Itinerary

1
Bienvenido in Mexico City

Upon arrival at Cancun airport. Reception, transfer and installation at the hotel. Free dinner. Overnight at Hotel Adhara Cancún or similar - Meal not included

2
Tulum, Coba site

Breakfast at the hotel. Departure from the hotel at 8:00 am for the tour of Tulum. Visit the archaeological site of Tulum which overlooks a jagged coastline, a scintillating beach lined with palm trees and turquoise waters. Continuation towards Cobá. Lunch. Guided bike tour of the archaeological site of Cobá. A prestigious city at one time, it is now the subject of careful excavations. These excavations made it possible to identify a pyramid 42m high, an archaeological record in Yucatan; a stepped bastion of nine terraces and a game of pelota. The wide roads paved with limestone that we have discovered are more numerous here than anywhere elsewhere. Road towards Chetumal. Overnight at the hotel. Distance covered during the day: 477 km Overnight at Hotel Capital Plaza or similar - Breakfast

3
Kohunlich site and direction Palenque

After breakfast, visit of the Kohunlich site. The surrounding rainforest is thick, but the site has been cleared and is now surrounded by a beautiful park. These ruins are famous for their impressive pyramid of masks surmounted by a temple. On either side of the central staircase, you will notice a series of three large masks with an Olmec influence. After lunch, drive to the forgotten city of Palenque, which reached its peak between 600 and 700 AD Like other cities in the central Mayan territory, it ceased to exist after the 9th century. It is likely that it was abandoned following a popular revolt against the dominant and authoritarian caste of priests. Installation at Hotel La Aldea. Night at the hotel. Distance covered during the day: 503 km Overnight at Hotel La Aldea or similar - Breakfast, lunch

4
Discovery of the authentic site of Yaxchilan

Early departure (around 6:00 am) towards the Corozal border. Breakfast on the way. Departure for Corozal. There, you board a motor boat to reach the archaeological site of Yaxchilan where great serenity reigns simply disturbed by the words of the spider monkeys and the sudden flight of the toucans. The luxurious palaces of yesteryear covered in the jungle seem to have become fixed in history. The city was built between 200 and 900 AD, it was ruled by Jaguar Shield who continued to expand his power through three unions and numerous battles. Leave traces of their history, scribes carved in stone, often basaltic, more important events that mark their life as their ruler: it is thanks to their knowledge and skill that we know today 300 years of this prestigious past. Animation game of the piñata for a moment of sharing with the children of Corozal. Traditional lunch during the excursion. Return by boat and then by car to Palenque. Arrived at the hotel. Overnight at Hotel La Aldea or similar - Breakfast, lunch.

5
From Palenque to Campeche

In the morning, visit the archaeological site of Palenque. You will be seduced by the beauty of its freestone buildings covered with stucco, eminent example of the architectural style of the classical era. This Mecca of Mayan art whose structures are scattered throughout the heart of the Chiapanec rainforest is considered one of the most beautiful cities pre-Columbian from Mexico. The building on more amazing is undoubtedly the Temple to the Inscriptions at the heart of which were discovered the tomb of King Pakal and his famous jade mask. Continuation to Campeche with lunch on the way. Distance covered during the day: 362 km Overnight at Hotel Plaza Colonial or similar - Breakfast, lunch

6
Colonial town of Campeche and Merida, site of Uxmal

After breakfast, departure for the visit of Campeche: discovery of the famous Malecon and the historic center, with many cobbled streets and old colonial residences. Departure for Mérida. Along the way, visit the archaeological site of Uxmal, the name of which means “built in three stages”. It is a fine example of classical and post-classical Mayan architectural art. You will discover the main buildings such as the Pyramid of the Soothsayer, the Governor's Palace and the Nuns' Quadrilateral. Lunch in Lodge Uxmal. Then, drive to Mérida and panoramic visit of the city, also known as the “white city” whose residences from the colonial era with French, Italian and Arab influences from the beginning of the 20th century bear witness to the past wealth of which the origin was the exploitation of sisal (agave from Mexico). Stop at the “Zocalo” where you can admire the Cathedral, the Government Palace, the Town Hall and the Montejo mansion. Distance covered during the day: 242 km Overnight at Residencial Mérida or similar - Breakfast, lunch.

7
Pueblo Magico de Izamal, site of Chichen Itza

After breakfast, departure to the pueblo Magico de Izamal, on the way, stop in the Mayan cemetery and discover the tombs in bright colors and highly decorated. Arriving in Izamal we find the discreet charm of small provincial towns at the time of the colony. Discovery of the city and its typical market where you can stroll. Departure for Cancún, stop en route at Cenote Ikkil for a pleasant swim. Lunch at the restaurant in Chichen Itza. Visit of the archaeological site of Chichen Itza, the Mayan capital of Yucatan which shone on the peninsula between the 5th and the 10th century AD.
